Beyond Sight

Beyond Sight began with the hypothesis that the blind do not have a completely safe and comfortable environment because most products are designed without taking disability into account. Based on that, three products were chosen to be redesigned so that they could be used intuitively without relying on vision. The three redesigned products are the speaker, remote controller, and timer. The speaker has been redesigned so that blind people can easily control volume by moving the ball part up and down. The remote controller has been altered so that visually impaired people can change channels and adjust volume by rolling and spinning the anatomically distinct channel and volume controls. Finally, the timer has been redesigned to offer configurable time presets in Braille. Red Dot Award: Design Concept | Concept | Domestic Aid and Home Appliances
