This animated infographic aims to inform the public about the threat that fishing poses to the Black Petrel, a seabird, and to provide tips for its protection. For this purpose, the clip combines animated sequences, graphics and text, which are explained further by an off-screen speaker against an unobtrusive soundscape. The production design makes a harmonious impression, using a limited number of colours. Inspired by the colour of the bird’s plumage, the animation plays on New Zealand’s love of the colour black, which is expressed throughout many facets of New Zealand culture.
