Chinese Style Chinoiserie – Wang Xinyao

Designed for “The Chinese Style”, an exhibition of Wang Xinyao’s contemporary works, this book focuses on a series of the artist’s works in a distinctively Chinese style. In order to visualise the Chinese spirit, the design makes use of traditional Chinese ink painting, interpreted in a modern sense. Chinese art paper was first painted by splashing ink. It was then fixed by a frame, rubbed and twisted, and finally pasted on the front and back covers, showing rich changes and layers of ink. The composition and the thickness of colours were adjusted whenever necessary during the creation process.
