Haps Handy Bugs

An unusual packaging design that would surprise and delight buyers was proposed for these Haps Handy Bugs pliers. The idea was to make the pliers visually blend in with the packaging. With this in mind, the pliers are given visual metaphors and transformed into various bug species. Because different species of bugs come in a variety of sizes and shapes, multiple visual metaphors that resemble various plier forms can be created. The name Haps Handy Bugs refers to a fixer, craftsman, and all-around handyman. The play on words in the slogan ‘These BUGS fix any bugs’ refers to both the packaging and what the pliers are intended to fix: ‘bugs’, defects, and something that isn’t working properly.
