Hexppy

Hexppy is an educational toy set that teaches children about exotic wildlife animals through an interactive and intuitive playing style. The endangered species chosen are found in wildlife habitats such as the ocean, Antarctica, and rainforests. The goal is to help children understand that certain exotic animals are on the verge of extinction around the world. Through learning more about the characteristics of these species at a young age, it is hoped that the children will grow up to be advocates for wildlife conservation. The polygonal shapes and forms of Hexppy’s animals make them more approachable and appealing to young players and toy collectors. The primary source of inspiration for each specie’s design is its fundamental identity. The passenger pigeon, for example, has a soft and fluid silhouette around its body, with a grey and orange gradient from head to toe. We kept the pigeon’s main feature and translated it into a polygonal form. Each animal’s footprint is also indented into the base to act as a holder for its respective toy. Hexppy can be used or played however the players prefer, from customising their own animal kingdom to mapping their own animal territory. Because Hexppy’s basic shape is a hexagon, it can be assembled in a variety of styles and configurations; players can also interact with the animals without the base plates. Hexppy can be used as a decorative item in the home as well. Red Dot Award: Design Concept | Concept | Childhood
