Holger Schmidhuber – BRENTWOOD

Back Download

“BRENTWOOD” documents the work of the artist Holger Schmidhuber. Autopsy images of the late Marilyn Monroe, who died in 1962 in Brentwood, Los Angeles, prompted Schmidhuber to explore the space between the realms of image, perception and memory. With the aim of getting to the core of the image’s message, classical pictures of the dead and the exploration of figuration and abstraction are included in the pictorial dispute. The book is enclosed in a handmade leather slipcase branded by the artist himself. Fold-out pages and different papers give the “shimmering spectacle” of this book room to make an impact.
