Holger Schmidhuber – Broken Territories
With the design concept of “Broken Territories”, this book visualises the work of the artist Holger Schmidhuber. As base material for his work cycle, the artist uses handwoven Oriental carpets that are up to a century old, creating walk-on paintings. The sophisticated editorial design frames the works of art and presents them through photography and text, picking up on the principle of “breaking” as a dominating design feature. This finds its substantial expression in the table of contents, which readers have to “tear” open, as well as in the use of diverse materials and papers.
