In Memoriam Albert Razin

Back Download

In 2019, philosopher Albert Razin set himself on fire in protest against the language policy of the Russian government and the oppression of Uralic languages such as Udmurt. The poster “In memoriam Albert Razin” commemorates this act and makes an unequivocal statement with its stark motif: illustrated tongues, torn out and nailed to a grey background, hanging above signs bearing the names of Uralic languages, blood splattered across the entire surface of the poster. This representation creates a powerful image of the conflict and calls uncompromisingly for this issue to be addressed.
