A Creative Turbo Boost

“Apple is Apple. And the Mac Studio is yet another iconic design for the desktop that readily meets the high expectations placed on the brand,” said the jurors in praise of the Mac Studio. The powerful processors are the heart and soul of this innovation: the M1 Max enables users to work with multiple apps simultaneously, edit thousands of images and record music in high quality without any impact on performance. The M1 Ultra boasts the all-new UltraFusion architecture that interconnects the die of two M1 Max chips to perform complex particle simulations, render expansive 3D environments or play up to 18 streams in 8K ProRes 422 video. Other remarkable features include a number of connection options on the front and back of the Mac Studio despite its compact enclosure. The front is ideal for connecting cameras, external hard drives or other devices. It is also possible to link up to four Pro Display XDR screens and a 4K television for a clear overview of multiple apps. The headphone jack supports high-impedance headphones along with active speakers. The Mac Studio also remains true to Apple’s iconic form, which has always seamlessly combined aesthetics and functionality, but now additionally features an innovative thermal design for maximum performance. The unique system of double-sided blowers, precisely placed airflow channels and over 4,000 perforations on the back and bottom of the enclosure guide air through the internal components and help cool the high-performance chips. And because of the efficiency of the materials used to manufacture it, the Mac Studio remains incredibly quiet, even under the heaviest of workloads. Apart from the functional aspects that the body had to support, Apple’s product engineers looked to the target group for design inspiration: the aim was to offer as much creativity in as small of a package as possible. With its compact, square footprint of just 7.7 inches and a height of only 3.7 inches, the Mac Studio certainly delivers on this promise. It takes up very little space, fits perfectly under most screens and, according to the jury, “simply looks great”.
