Single-person households make up nearly 30% of the South Korean population. Most of these people who live alone often dine out or order in. At the same time, traditional Korean sauces are seeing a decline in demand because cooking with such sauces is a complicated process. Korean fermented sauces are often sold in large volumes, which are not suitable for small households. OROT seeks to address these issues with single-serving packages of fermented sauces. Its design references the cracks produced during fermentation. Each shape represents different fermented products and the lines indicate the fermentation time. The resulting pattern tells a story of the entire fermentation process. Red Dot Award: Design Concept | Concept | Packaging
