Paper Brains

The interactive exhibition “Paper Brains” is a gaze into different reproductions and artistic interpretations of selected skulls and brains re-presentations. Largely based on the archive of the Special Collections Library, University of Amsterdam, the show approaches the question of how the human brain has been represented in books as a subject of study throughout different historical epochs. The exhibition layout follows the idea of presenting a book page in the floor of the gallery space, where its “images” are the displays to be interacted with, and text footnotes are literally “notes” brought to the “foot” of the public that steps into the show.
