Inspired by the principles of active learning, Rain Collections is a set of tools that allow children to make a weekly report of the pluviometry and convert it into a diagram. This project uses physical actions that help children understand the transition from reality to a graphic representation.
The kit is designed to be mostly laser cut, to facilitate easy production and assembly. After receiving a high number of samples, the glass bulbs can be sealed with a blowtorch. This way, the rain will remain chemically intact through time. The jars are displayed on a light table and can be projected in large scale in the classroom to reveal the dust, sand, and small grass blades visible in the rain water.
