Sensory Pleasure
SCHOTT® LuminaLine
In the past decades, lighting was adapted to illuminate space and to make objects brighter and more visible. Today the role of lighting is changing with new technologies, such as autonomous vehicles, connected environments and medical progress like photodynamic therapy. The perception and expectation on lighting has witnessed a shift and illumination is gaining new meaning for both, an aesthetical and a functional perspective.
With regard to these trends, SCHOTT® LuminaLine was designed with a fine sense of beauty and developed with market knowledge. The material is a bendable, sustainable and robust - proving that glass does not have to be fragile. LuminaLine is technically based on a glass composite whose luminance is bundled by a fibre optic – the soul. This creates an interplay of light and transparency that makes new designs possible. From a functional perspective, LuminaLine is also suitable for using concentrated homogeneous light for industrial and medical applications. However, the lighting technology is strengthened by the thermally toughened clad glass that surrounds the soul. The clad is resistant to physical and chemical loads and withstands UV radiation and temperatures up to 400°C without any problems. The latter quality mentioned above is of particular interest for medical devices, which are exposed to extreme stresses during sterilisation. But these properties also make SCHOTT® LuminaLine the perfect accent lighting for previously unused spots in household appliances or cars—for instance, as functional lighting for ovens, or to highlight exterior vehicle contours. Where visibility used to be the focus, lighting is now used as a form of user experience. The unmistakably luminous soul is ideal as element for brand recognition in interior or exterior design. SCHOTT® LuminaLine is as versatile as your imagination.
Winner of the German Innovation Award 2018 and the Red Dot: Best of the Best Award 2018, LuminaLine convinced independent experts of its design quality, functional advantage and customer value.
