The delicately designed graphics for selling Jasmine tea aim to appeal to the southern part of China in particular. They present a romantic tale from 1920s Shanghai, which is sketched in the artistic style of paper theatre and depicts an ornate row of richly decorated houses. Tradition and modernism flow seamlessly into each other in this illustration: the main figure, an elegant woman at the centre of the graphics who appears to have discerning taste, reflects the product’s present-day target group. Different, perfectly matched colour schemes – sometimes contrasting, sometimes with soft pastel tones – allow the illustrations to be used flexibly for advertising and marketing purposes.
