Red Dot: What characterises your award-winning product, the Bugaboo Butterfly 2?

It strikes the perfect balance between innovation, functionality and comfort. Every detail was carefully thought through to enhance the experience for both parents and children. One of its standout features is the fact that it can be folded in one second with one hand – an intuitive mechanism for even greater mobility. We developed this pushchair with modern parents in mind to offer convenience and comfort without compromise.

What is the design feature you are most proud of and why?

The fully upright seat is a unique feature in the market and reflects the attention to detail of our design approach. This ergonomic position, combined with the fully flat reclining option, ensures optimal posture and support for children at every stage of their growth. And we are proud of the sustainability improvements. By rethinking materials and optimising our production process, we were able to reduce CO₂ emissions by 37 per cent compared to the previous model. 

What does it take to design for small children as users?

It means deeply understanding their needs as well as the daily challenges faced by parents. We involve parents in the design process, gathering insights and feedback to ensure every feature enhances the children’s experience. Our team collaborates closely with ergonomics specialists to ensure proper support for young passengers. Every detail is tested and refined to guarantee that our pushchair doesn’t just meet expectations but truly elevates the experience of parenting on the go.
