Red Dot: How many BEIDOU downlights can be controlled with your system?
We use the Zigbee communication protocol, which can theoretically control over a thousand interfaces. However, our studies have shown that the system works particularly reliably and accurately with around 100 spotlights, which is the number typically used for hotel ballrooms, restaurants and multifunctional venues.
What is special about your user interface?
We set out to create the most intuitive interface of its kind. We studied other applications and decided that there are specific must-have functions, such as dimming, colour adjustment and tilt angle control. When working with individual elements, it is easy for the user to see what works and how, but with larger units it becomes difficult to mentally connect the lights on the ceiling with those in the app. And when different users rename the units, things get even more complicated. That’s why we opted for a graphical solution that incorporates the real environment. This requires a larger screen, so our app only works on a tablet, but it’s definitely worth it.
Tell us more about the materials and colours.
Form definitely follows function as far as we are concerned. We tried to give our product its own identity with a colour matching function. The design language is stringent, reliable and clear, aspects that are also expressed by the materials used. The aluminium housing provides protection, but it also dissipates heat. The holes are not just an aesthetic detail; they also ensure air circulation. The colours are aligned with our brand identity, and we have created a black-and-red edition because the design team prefers these colours.
