Red Dot: Did you have a kitchen in mind when you developed INFINITY?
Sure! The ideal kitchen for INFINITY cookware would be minimalist and modern because this would perfectly showcase its style.
What functional advantages does the INFINITY design offer?
Thanks to its user-friendliness and safety features, it offers an extremely convenient cooking experience. This cookware combines the healthiest material for cooking – stainless steel – with the most effective form of use.
The scale markings on the inside of the pots are another extremely practical feature. Which design detail was particularly important to you in this series?
The scale markings on the inside surface are definitely very practical, but what I like best are the slim silicone handles. They were produced using a very special technique. The soft silicone surface in combination with the internal mechanism that extends the handles’ lifespan is an innovation for sure.
Do looks or function take centre stage in the development of cookware?
I certainly started out by considering function. My intention was to translate user feedback on function into a well-designed product. I wanted to resolve many shortcomings with my design, such as the risk of burns from overheated lids or the problem of gripping solid handles. Towards the end of the design process, I realised that the pots I had designed based on functional considerations also offered a distinctive aesthetic advantage. The reduced design language that I had developed actually enhanced the visual appearance of the products.
