Red Dot: What inspired you to design Grazioso?

With advances in AI, robotics and medical technology, the question of what it means to be human is coming ever more into focus. Touching water remains a primal experience, grounding us in the Earth. In this context, Grazioso was conceived as a node in the circulation between body and planet.

In music, “grazioso” calls for a graceful, charming way of playing. To what extent does the design of your series reflect this?

I see this series as akin to a musical instrument. Its presence harmonises with space through diffused light, tactile materiality and a flowing, organic silhouette.

What challenges do you foresee for product design in the future?

As technology increasingly merges with the body, design should be rooted more in sensory experience. The challenge is to sustain a rich and varied relationship – one in which the senses and memories create lasting bonds across scales, time and ways of being.

Tactile memories play a vital role in the design of Grazioso. Can you tell us more about the materials and the surface finish?

For the design of Grazioso, I chose vibration-finished metal and white oak for their crafted individuality and depth – qualities that invite touch and that are inspiring. Over time, these materials and surfaces ensure tactile memories accumulate and become the quiet but enduring undertone of life.
