Felix Damerius is creative director at Peter Schmidt Group, one of Europe’s most successful brand and design agencies. Amongst others, he is responsible for the development of holistic and relevant design solutions. He has extensive experience in marketing strategies and development, design management and digital transformation. His more than ten years of professional experience encompass projects with international blue-chip customers in the fields of financial services, telecommunication, technology, mobility and FMCG.

Red Dot: Do you have a specific design approach for your work?
Felix Damerius: As innovators in the field of empathetic branding, we look beyond the mere visual aspect. We focus on what interests consumers and on their individual context – and support brands in developing customised solutions so superficial promises are replaced by an emotional connection. That differentiates brands from their competitors and makes them more relevant.

How do you convince your customers of your designs?
If one is involved with brands that Kurt Weidemann and Erik Spiekermann have already worked on and that have a brand awareness of 100 per cent in Germany, it can be a little scary. A bit of reverence and respect for what they did is called for. At the same time, an impulse is needed to give the brand greater scope.
