Our Sea

The new seafood brand “Our Sea” from the Black Sea, which appeared on the shelves of shops in the Russian city of Anapa, presented alleged delicacies in simple glass jars adorned with attractively colourful print labels. However, the products were actually made of marine debris caught on a daily basis by seamen. The idea behind this, which was accompanied by the Bloknot Anapa online portal, was to emphasise the problem of waste ending up in the sea. It has long been a well-known fact that the sea is full of litter that tourists and even locals throw carelessly into it – but now all this litter has re-emerged on the shelves of local supermarkets, packed as deceptively real-looking products ranging from a sea cocktail made of cigarette stubs to a Black Sea mix made of plastic bottles or a seafood salad made of tin parts – products that no one would want to open and try for real. The goal of the campaign has been to ask both locals and tourists to be more conscious of the pollution that this rubbish is causing to the coast and the Black Sea, and to participate in a community work day dedicated to cleaning the coastal area of the city.

Statement by the Jury

The design of this new product series convinces in every detail. The mission and message of drawing attention to the pollution problem in the Black Sea has been excellently realised and illustrated in a truly vivid manner. What is more, the fact that the colours for the brilliantly implemented graphic appearance were created using marine litter further underscores the credibility of this work.
